The Summer Fashion Design Instructor will lead and oversee hands-on fashion design instruction for students ages 6–17 in a boutique studio setting. This role is ideal for a college student or emerging professional with a background in fashion design, sewing, apparel construction, or fashion education who is passionate about creativity, mentorship, and working with children and teens.
The ideal candidate is creative, dependable, organized, and confident using sewing machines while guiding students through the fashion design process in a structured and supportive environment.
This is a unique opportunity for a fashion student or emerging professional to gain valuable hands-on experience in fashion instruction, creative mentorship, and studio operations while learning within an established fashion design and education environment focused on inspiring the next generation of creatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily fashion design and sewing instruction for Kids (ages 6–12) and Teen (ages 13–17) programs
- Teach foundational to intermediate sewing, garment construction, and fashion design concepts
- Guide students through sketching, mood boards, textile selection, and wearable project creation
- Assist students with sewing machine operation and safe studio practices
- Provide individualized guidance and constructive creative feedback
- Foster a warm, positive, and professionally structured classroom environment
- Encourage creativity, confidence-building, and independent thinking
- Support daily studio organization, setup, and cleanup
- Help maintain a polished and welcoming boutique studio atmosphere
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Current college student or graduate with a background in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, Apparel Design, Costume Design, Fashion Education, or a related field
- Experience sewing and confidently using sewing machines
- Understanding of garment construction, textiles, and fashion design fundamentals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional, dependable, patient, and highly organized
- Comfortable leading and engaging groups of children and teens
- Ability to balance creativity with classroom structure and guidance
- Passion for fashion, design, and mentorship
Program Details
- Summer Camp Season: June 22, 2026 – August 28, 2026
- Schedule: 30 Hours per week – 9:30am-3:30pm
