Because We Can Sports (BWC Sports) is a Staten Island-based youth sports organization and licensed NYC Department of Education vendor. We run field days, recess, after-school programs, and summer day camp at public schools across the five boroughs of New York City. Our trainers are the heartbeat of our programs — they bring energy, structure, and fun to kids every single day.
The Role As a Field Day Trainer, you’ll lead outdoor games and physical activities for students in grades K–8 at NYC public schools across the five boroughs. This is a hands-on, high-energy position perfect for college students, athletes, or anyone who loves working with kids and staying active.
Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate field day games and activity stations for groups of students
- Supervise student participation with a focus on safety and sportsmanship
- Set up and break down equipment before and after events
- Represent BWC Sports professionally at all times
- Work collaboratively with school staff and fellow trainers
Minimum Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be local to Staten Island or Brooklyn, NY
- Comfortable and confident working with children ages 5–14
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
- Must be able to obtain NYC DOE PETS fingerprint clearance (we will guide you through the process)
- Must have or be willing to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Athletic background or experience in youth sports
- Experience coaching, tutoring, mentoring, or working with children
- Prior work in a NYC DOE school setting
